Communication

Hatchett Design Remodel cares about communicationHatchett realizes that miscommunication can happen in any relationship – with a companion, friend, co-worker, and in remodeling.

To avoid set-backs from miscommunication, Hatchett assigns a project manager to each and every project, from start to finish.  The project manager’s job is to communicate with our clients daily, answer any questions or concerns, set expectations, review the project, and much more.

Also, during each project, our clients will receive an evaluation form to fill out each week. If you have any additional concerns, questions, compliments, etc; they will be noted and addressed by Don Hatchett.

Our Project Managers:

Al Harrup

Al  is one of our most experienced Project Managers with 45 years construction experience, over 25 of which are with Hatchett.  His favorite projects to work on are Kitchen and Master Suite Additions, Sunrooms, and 2nd Story Additions (add-levels). Al served in the Army, and stays very involved in his church.

Doug Soule

Doug has nearly 25 years experience in the construction industry, 10 of which are with Hatchett.  Originally from upstate New York, Doug likes to work on any project that offers unique challenges, especially Kitchen remodels that require great detail and skill.   Doug has been married for 10 years, and likes to spend time with his wife and two daughters.  He’s also an avid Nascar fan!

Kent Gorton

Kent has 18 years of construction experience and has been with Hatchett for 3 years.  Kent is our Luxury Bath/ Bath Remodel specialist, and has a passion for carpentry and woodworking.  Kent has been married for 14 years, and likes to spend time with his wife and their 3 kids.  Kent’s wife is a Veterinarian, so they have 4 dogs, 1 cat, and 1 rat (he says it’s friendly)!  Kent graduated from UC Fullerton with a Bachelors in Communications.

Mike Munson

Born and raised in Tidewater, VA.   He has 13 years of construction experience, over 5 of which with Hatchett.  Mike likes to build decks and other exterior work like installing siding.  He also has a passion for remodeling bathrooms and kitchens.  He’s been married for 4 years, and enjoys being a DJ on the weekends.  He also enjoys boating, fishing, and working on his house.

Terry Newby

Born and raised in Tidewater, Terry has 29 years of construction experience, 27 of which with Hatchett.  He excels at building additions and 2nd story additions  (add-levels).  Terry was a paratrooper in the Army and likes to hunt and fish, when he’s not spending time with his wife and four children.

Van Hicks

Van has 15 years experience in the construction industry, 10 with Hatchett.  Van enjoys building additions, remodeling kitchens, and all aspects of home repairs from installing siding to windows and doors.  When he’s not spending time with his wife and 3 kids, or working on their home, he enjoys running and fishing.

Ken Smith

Ken graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and a minor in real estate.   After college, Ken started to work for Hatchett.   He has a passion for home remodeling, and loves to see the transformations take place.  In his spare time, he plays golf as much as possible, and competes in local amateur tournaments in the area.
